After The Immense Success Of The Last 'Come Rhyme With Me' And The Brilliant Review In The Metro Newspaper, Dean & Deanna Have Another Come Rhyme With Me In Store For All Of You Spoken Word Fans!!!
Saturday 16th JULY marks the day that prolific French artist AZAD presents his first individual show, displaying a collection of his work - 'Weird & Casual' at the Everyman Cinema, Belsize Park, London.
Exploring the different and sometimes hidden facets of human nature with depth and affection, AZAD draws upon the most random and obscure elements of our direct environment as well as our very intimate emotions to create a body of work where reality is juxtaposed to fantasy. Sometimes messy and intricate, sometimes minimalistic and essential he creates artwork that questions the codes, order and hierarchy of our society.
An eponym print limited to an edition of 20 will be released on the occasion alongside all the original work displayed and made available for sale at the Every Man Cinema and online at - www.lesmouvementdesnuages.com
As a single child, born in Paris, raised in the 80’s, AZAD developed an imagination that would inspire numerous characters, set ups and stories. It provided him a playground with no limitations, and importantly no rules. Coming to accept he would never turn in to a grown-up, he keeps this spontaneous and free approach when he picks up a pen. He simply draws, paints, cuts, assembles and creates without concerns for a meaning or a defined style, without restriction of medium or genre. He explores the possibilities, has fun with it and displays the results when it happens to look good.
AZAD will be present and performing live art throughout the launch weekend (16th & 17th July)
'Weird & Casual' will run from July 16th to August 19th 2011
Fresh from signing a distribution deal with Essential Music & Marketing, South London rapper Fem Fel releases his debut album Eyes Closed on 27 June 2011.
The first single taken from ‘Eyes Closed’ ‘Runnin’ (produced by Rymez, featuring Lily McKenzie) was released in December 2010, with follow up viral sensation ‘Put it in a Bag’ (produced by Dan Dare, featuring Blade Brown) in January 2011. The rap / club track featured video appearances by various artists including Skepta, Tinie Tempah, Giggs and G FrSH. 'Put it in a Bag'’s catchy hook and clever wordplay created one of the most quoted rap tracks of the year so far and made Ace & Vis’ 'Top 4 tracks of the week'. Second official single ‘Hero’ (produced by Dan Dare and featuring Kurt Collins) was released in April 2011 and championed by Radio 1Xtra DJ’s Westwood, Trevor Nelson and Target to mention a few. The acoustic rendition of the track (as performed at Music Week’s Breakout in April) illustrates Fem’s versatility and non-conformity within the rap genre.
'Eyes Closed' leaps from pondering troubled relationships on ‘Hero’, to Fem mulling over his place in the rap scene with ‘man of the moment’ Wretch 32 on 'Floating'. ‘‘Magnificent’ explores the bravado and self confidence of a rapper, whilst ‘Eyes Closed’ sets the backdrop for Fem Fel to pick over his shadowy past and contemplate his future.... Inspired by the sounds of DMX, Blackstreet and So Solid Crew as he was growing up; Fem describes the recording of his album as a cathartic experience; ‘closing my eyes and letting it all out’.
Fem Fel (real name Femi Falola) was a late-comer to music. In 2005 he joined South London hip hop crew ‘SN1’, made famous by XL recordings rapper Giggs. Fem‘s foray into music produced a handful of releases including ‘The Beginning’, ‘Hollowgrind’, ‘A Brand New Problem’ and ‘345’ volumes 1 and 2. It was ‘It’s You’ that propelled Fem onto radio and out of the confines of South London in 2008. He then produced ‘Graffiti on the Wall’ with music website GrimeDaily in early 2010, which was a collection of tracks from some of the UK’s best rap talent including Sway and Bigz.
Fem also joined forces with Grime MC Skepta on the single B.O.S.S, and a freestyle picking through his murky experience of prison was picked up by BBC3’s Jail Tales, on which Fem appeared in 2010. In May 2011 Fem was selected by Roundhouse Radio and taste-maker & journalist Hyperfrank to takeover Volume Control’s Rap Edition, supported by MTV, Radio 1Xtra and RWD magazine to mention a few.
'Fem is far from another insular hood-rat bragging to his mates... his verbal dexterity, deadpan humour and easy references make Fem Fel throughly absorbing.'

The time is ripe for South London-born emcee Fem Fel to make a move for the bigger stage. The respect that he commands from the UK urban scene is transparently clear.

The rapper hailing from South London has most definitely been on his musical grind this year and it shows. Without even commanding silence, the crowd were eagerly anticipating any and every word which came out of the South Londoner’s mouth.

I wanted you to be the first to know about my new video doc that will be released onMonday 13th June for my track 'FOLLOW FASHION' featuring Mikill Pane, Master Shortie and Sincere.
Who am I? I’m XO Man, an alternative music blending, 6ft10, curly moustache rocking artist. I have shared the stage with the likes of Jessie J, Tinie Tempah, Major Lazer, recorded with Ed Sheeran, won Hugo Boss Urban Rules, wrote a song about my microwave, I can't stand straight on a bus or tube AND I'm forced to make my own trousers because shops don’t sell my size.
What am I doing? I’ve hand-picked three fashion conscious UK artists, Mikill Pane, Master Shortie and Sincere, selected a banging UK produced beat (Shae Arga), added a chorus and named it 'FOLLOW FASHION'. The music and fashion scene come hand in hand so I made this track to merge the two and represent emerging stars from both areas.
What now? The 'FOLLOW FASHION' video doc is being released and sent to you on Monday 13th June and I would appreciate any help to make sure our music, culture and fashion is recognised by all.
Feel free to blog, tweet, post, share the video doc.
Thank You The support of fans, music lovers, bloggers, journalists and those who love to share is much appreciated.
Urban pop artist Talay Riley returns with a follow-up to ‘Sergeant Smash’ and ’Good as Gold’ with new single ‘Make You Mine’ on 1st August.
Currently just 20 years old, Talay has already established himself as a household name in the UK urban music scene. Having had his first UK #1 single with Chipmunk’s ‘Oopsy Daisy’, which he wrote, he followed on from this with two solo singles of his own (‘Humanoid’ and ‘Sergeant Smash’), a joint single with grime pioneer Scorcher ‘Good As Gold’ and numerous song writing ventures for chart toppers such as; JLS, Jessie J, The Wanted and Tinie Tempah.
Now, Talay is ready to take the charts by storm with his latest unique urban-pop effort. ‘Make You Mine’ offers up somber melodies infused with catchy vocal hooks and a head bopping beat mixed with touching vocals that expose Talay’s more emotional side. It is the perfect chilled summer anthem. Remixes come courtesy of 7th Heaven, Ace Jupiter, Heist and Asterix.
Having already toured with N-Dubz earlier this year and Usher, Jessie J and Mike Posner more recently, Talay has already started building a live following for his own headline shows.
His debut album will be released in 2011 and he is currently working in the studio in the UK and LA with a host of producers including Inflo 1st (One Republic), Harmony aka H-Money (a member of Darkchild Productions in LA responsible for Lady Gaga’s ‘Telephone’ amongst others) and Rodney Jerkins.
