Convicted drug trafficker “Freeway” Ricky Donnell Ross is attempting to sue William Leonard Roberts II, rapper Rick Ross, for use of the copyrighted name, Rick Ross.
It has been alleged that rapper Rick Ross once was a police warden who stole the stories of real gangster Ricky Ross and turned them into million dollar record deals.
A trial date has been set at the Los Angeles Superior Court due to start in August 2013.
In more recent news on the controversial hip hop artist, it would seem he was also involved in a drive-by shooting but managed to escape from the scene with his life.
In even more clouded conspiracy theories, an investigation into the case has turned up the rapper himself, as the main suspect of the drive-by.
It is thought he may have staged the shooting to make himself look like a gangster, with enemies out to kill him, in an attempt to redeem himself from the recent allegations which have affected the credibility of his lyrics.
