TICKETMASTER GOES SOCIAL

Ticketmaster has added new social features to its website to help drive recommendations and ticket sales.
The new tools will let customers see what shows friends are attending through a Facebook integration.
They are also woven into artist profile pages on Ticketmaster, listing who is attending a particular gig. (These tools will also be ported across to the Livenation.com site.)
A blog posting on the Ticketmaster site says, “The concept is simple: instead of letting your friends know you've purchased tickets by calling or emailing them, start sharing simply by clicking the 'Attending' button right after you've purchased. If someone else purchased tickets for you, go to the show's page on our site and RSVP from there.”
Facebook 'Like' buttons are embedded beside show listings and 'Recommend' buttons sit on the site's events pages.
As users engage with the site, their tastes will be collated and recommendations for shows fed to them.
Fans can also post photos from shows and reviews online.

1XTRA CHANGES!!!

Twin B will become the new breakfast host at 1Xtra in January, with Trevor Nelson moving to the 10am to 1pm slot and Gemma Cairney taking on weekday afternoons.
Twin B, who currently hosts weekends from 10am to 1pm, says he is excited by the change. “I love 1Xtra,” he says. “There’s no other institution around with more passion for the music it plays. It’s an honour to be asked to present such a massive show.”
As a result of these changes, which come into effect on January 8, Nick Bright moves to weekend breakfast (7am-10am) from early weekday breakfast; Charlie Sloth will present Saturdays (10am-1pm); CJ Beatz Sundays (10am – 1pm) and Sarah-Jane Crawford moves to weekend afternoons (1pm–4pm) from weekend breakfast.
In addition, two new shows are to be introduced showcasing specialist DJs and new forms of music. The Specialists will air from 1am-3am every Saturday night/Sunday morning, while The Mix Specialists will go out from 3am-5am on Saturday night/Sunday morning.
The changes do, however, mean that Ras Kwame, Rampage (Mike Anthony and Treble T) and Max will leave the station. Seani B will no longer host a regular weekly show but the station says he will continue to work with 1Xtra in the future.
1Xtra deputy controller Ben Cooper says the station is making these changes from a position of strength, after it reported strong listening figures in the last Rajars.
“We want to continue to refresh our offer in order to grow the station and increase the number of young listeners we’re bringing into the BBC via a digital platform and we believe these changes will do just that,” he explains.
1Xtra boosted its audience by 34.3% in the third quarter of 2010, posting an average audience of 806,000.
