90s Hip-Hop / R&B

1994-2004 Special!
Friday 9th December

Ash Catch’em / Dj 279

Hyped 90s Hiphop and RnB night, Supa Dupa Fly, has quickly become the monthly necessity in any 90s hip-hop lovers diary. Since launching in March, the events have gone from strength to strength, receiving press features from the likes of The Guardian Guide, The Evening Standard, Time Out & SB.TV.

Named after Missy’s first Album (but you knew that of course), this month we’re going to celebrating 1994-2004, so expect to hear Dr Dre, Snoop Dog, KRS One, Wu-Tang, Nas, Bigge, Tupac, A Tribe Called Quest, Gang Starr, LL Cool J, Missy, and early 2000s sounds from Ludacrus, Kanye West & The Neptunes, as well all the hottest 90s R&B joints from SWV, Donell Jones, Montell Jordan, TLC, Destinys Child and loads more good stuff!

We’ll be giving away our exclusive ‘I’m Supa Dupa Fly’ t-shirts to those of you who are the ‘fly-ist’. These parties always reach capacity early – please arrive at 10.30 to avoid disappointment & buy a ticket in advance. Selected Pints & Vodka mixers are just £2.20, so even the drinks are 90s prices!

DJ - 279 is if anything a somewhat unsung hero of the UK Hip-Hop scene. A MOBO-nominated ambassador for all that is good about the state of Hip-Hop. In April 2011 after more than 17 years of hosting Friday Nite Flavas, Choice FM decided it was time to promote the his infamous Rap show to Saturday evenings, Numbers can now be heard between 10-12pm every week on Choice FM aswell as djing at events for the likes of Big Daddy Kane, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Dead Prez, RZA, Pharcyde, & DJ Premier, with more large scale events planned for 2012. www.dj279.co.uk/

Live - Ash Catch’Em celebrates the launch of his third mixtape of 2011, the final instalment to the 'Smoke Lots, Drink More' trilogy featuring acts such as Cleo Sol & Josh Osho. From classic east coast hip hop, to dirty south chopped & screwed, Ash also slips in a Jazz element to his sound while at the same time maintaining his grimey UK attitude. Ash has recently supported Mac Miller and Big Sean on their UK tours. www.ashcatchem.com

There will also be dj sets from residents Emily Rawson & Kojak.
