[UK] OLIVER HELDENS - "LAST ALL NIGHT" (KOALA) FT KSTEWART

Oliver Heldens - 'Last All Night' - 'Koala' (feat. KStewart)

Released: 7th December 2014

(FFRR/Parlophone Records)

FOLLOWS HUGE #1 HIT ‘GECKO (OVERDRIVE)’ WITH NEW TRACK ‘LAST ALL NIGHT (KOALA)’ FEAT. KStewart
RELEASED: 7TH DECEMBER 2014

Download >HERE<

Oliver Heldens continues his deep / future house exploration with his follow-up to ‘Koala’, featuring rising artist KStewart. ‘Last All Night (Koala)’ continues to set the tone with his now-trademark instrumentals, while KStewart’s uplifting vocals perfectly resonate with the looping chorus of “we can make this last all night”. Again released on the resurgent FFRR label, ‘Koala’ hits harder than ‘Gecko’, as its initially deceptively simple bass-heavy melody progresses into a leftfield breakdown flooded with stabbing synths.
Oliver Heldens made a huge impression with the release of his breakthrough track ‘Gecko’ earlier this year. Originally released by TiĆ«sto’s Musical Freedom, it hit #2 at Beatport and became a clubland staple before crossing over into mainstream success. The vocal version, featuring a topline by Becky Hill, hit #1 in the UK with over 300,000 sales earning Silver certification and remaining in the Top 10 for a month. On the live side, Heldens has started to assert his prominence with high-energy live shows and his weekly radio show, Heldeep Radio, hosted on his SoundCloud channel.

ARTISTS

As co-head of acclaimed London label Eglo, and long-running host of balmy Saturday afternoon sessions on Rinse FM, Alexander Nut has become famed for his wide ranging approach to selection. The sounds covered both by his label and his show are defiantly unhindered by genre, searching instead for a common atmosphere to bind the music together. “I’m a vibes person,” he agrees. “I don’t really plan things too much, I always just go off the vibe of what’s going on.” That attitude extends to his selection for his shows on Rinse. “Saturday is always a bit calming – it’s always daylight, it’s always the weekend. I can still go dark and deep and stuff like that, but I like to reflect my surroundings – even the seasons.” So depending on the day you catch him, you’re likely to encounter anything from deep house, soul and funk to ruder, London-borne sounds like grime, garage and bass-driven UK house. It’s an electrifying cocktail, heightened by the seemingly effortless way he’s able to segue between disparate rhythms and moods. Although it’s become commonplace for DJs to mix across genres, when he first got involved with Rinse FM in 2007, Nut was one of a rare breed. “At the time it wasn’t really the done thing to be doing eclectic mixes,” he explains, but goes on to cite his wide-ranging musical influences from childhood (“I was obsessed with Curtis Mayfield and Jimi Hendrix as a kid,” he laughs) as teaching him to see beyond superficial boundaries. “I think there’s always been an underlying current or frequency to what I play. I generally don’t seem to see the difference in what I play, it all means the same thing to me.”

Lennart Dƶring and Gerald Zollner are the two respective halves of high-calibre German duo, Musk. Having met in the musical hotbed that is Berlin’s underground, the two began work together in 2009, producing classic house with a disco-influenced perspective. The duo’s talents spoke for themselves, and as they immersed themselves in the city’s scene their list of plaudits grew rapidly. Their own label, LGDZ, was borne when in 2012 two of Berlin’s leading lights, Dixon and Ƃme, asked them to be the first external label to be distributed by Innervisions through MutingTheNoise. Gerd Janson and Soundstream were amongst those early few to recognise the duo’s production quality in tracks such as “925″ and their remix of “Space Me Out”. Whilst always working together in the studio, on stage Musk are separated. Gerald is a vinyl DJ and plays everything from disco and proto-house through to a range of more modern styles. Lennart, on the other hand, plays a highly original live set through Ableton Live, where he works with a vast back catalogue material, much of it unreleased, forged over five years of intense studio-work with Gerald.

Rising prospect Dan Shake has achieved what no other has in over a decade: with his debut release in the music world, he has become the very first producer without a Detroit heritage or residency to land a release on Moodymann’s prestigious record label Mahogani Music. Based in London, the former Leeds student secured the feat in a charmingly anachronistic fashion: having just watched Kenny Dixon Jr perform alongside the 3 Chairs at Dimensions Festival, Dan simply handed over a demo CD with a collection of unreleased tracks. Moodymann was hooked almost instantantly, taking the first plunge on welcoming an outsider into his tight-knit crew of Detroit strong artists. Citing influence from the layered percussive rhythms of Afrobeat pioneers such as Tony Allen and Fela Kuti, the soul-drenched sampling of J Dilla and the kind of dark, dense grooves laid out by contemporary producers such as Flying Lotus and Motor City Drum Ensemble, Dan’s situation in winding up on a label renowned for encompassing all those traits is obviously a blessing for the young producer.
