Could Vybz Kartel be released from jail!?

Key Kartel witness ‘nuh’ cooperate

Vybz Kartel may be free to see another stage after one the prosecution’s main witnesses failed to turn up to the last trial after retracting their first statement.

It has been revealed that a key witness of the trial is being uncooperative. The witness in question is the witness who made the original statement identifying Vybz Kartel, born Adidja Palmer, as being one the of perpetrators involved in the murder of Barrington ‘Bossy’ Burton. The statement indicated that Vybz Kartel had ordered Lenburgh McDonald to carry out the killing.

Some sources close to the case disclosed to the media that the witness might be fearful for his life, due to Kartel’s high notoriety.

However, earlier this year, Vybz Kartel released a statement claiming that Jamaican law enforcement agencies had fabricated the charges and intimidated the witness, a statement which can be backed up by the fact that the witness retracted his first statement claiming that the police had threatened and physically assaulted him into implicating Kartel as the mastermind behind the murder. The witness then released another statement to the Public Defender stating that since he had retracted his first statement he had received numerous death threats via his phone.
