It’s no secret that Skepta has been going in a different direction with his music since his critically acclaimed 2012mixtape ‘Blacklisted’. As of late Skepta has comfortably positioned himself in his own creative space, unrestricted to boundaries.
Many music listeners would liken Skepta’s grime crew ‘Boy Better Know’ to New York hot squad ‘ASAP Mob’, so it was only a matter of time until they collaborated. However it wasn’t with their front man Rocky, but instead with the non-rapping ASAP creative director Young Lord (ASAP Bari).
September 2014 saw Skepta and Young Lord take to the stage at two exclusive East London shows to perform ‘It Ain’t Safe’, which many would say is the biggest viral hit since Bobby Shmurda ‘Hot Ni**a’. Through Vine, Instagram, Snap Chat etc. They have created worldwide anticipation for the release of the single and now it’s finally here!!
